My brand, diyamehta clothing has come out of my love for Design , and the desire to create beautiful and affordable clothing out of natural fibres. I tend to favour Mulmul ( muslin), chanderi and light mulberry silk , over other fabrics as they work well in our Indian climate.

Tie and dye as a craft is my go to technique to colour fabric, as it allows me to create shades , palettes and combinations that are unusual and new. I love watching how the color spreads on fabric, it’s like taking a white canvas and creating a painting.

The dyeing is all done by hand with one dyer who uses just plain salt to fix the colours. Within Tie and Dye, creating shades of Ombre is is my favorite. The area where  colours begin to overlap, to me this  is an expression of my ART .

Detailing in my designs is always present , but  not  in your face,  you  will see it  on a closer look, you will notice that pop of a second colour, maybe a small stitch on the neck, or perhaps another layer of fabric peeping through. this is what i learnt during  my career  of filmmaking  in advertising, to add little nuances that would be caught over repeated telecast. it feels like you catch   something new each time.

 

In my studio you will find two distinct lines available, one with the sourced woven fabric and one line with the tie and dye that I develop. Each Design can be styled in more ways than one ,adding that extra element of one’s own personality and giving you more wearability, and value for money.

My Clothes are crafted keeping in mind women who are Creative ,always on the move and those who celebrate their individuality. The woman who wears diyamehta clothing, values comfort, simplicity and style all at once.
